DUNEDIN, Fla.— Gleyber Torres missed the Yankees’ 7-3 loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday with an injury to his right ring finger, which he jammed diving back into first base during Monday’s victory at TD Ballpark.

The shortstop could be seen shaking his hand after the play following his walk in the second inning. Torres finished the game and underwent an X-ray and CT scan afterwards, which both came back “clean,” according to Aaron Boone.

“He’s still a little sore,’’ Boone said.

The manager said after the game he thought Torres would be back Wednesday.

With Torres out, Gio Urshela got his first start at shortstop. Urshela became the Yankees’ backup shortstop when Tyler Wade got sent to the alternate site following the acquisition of Rougned Odor.

“I have a lot of confidence in Gio with a glove on his hand when he’s standing on the infield,’’ Boone said of Urshela, who last started a game at the position while with the Blue Jays in 2018.

Two of the first three balls hit by Toronto on Tuesday went in Urshela’s direction and he made both plays cleanly, but in the third inning, he made a bad throw to first for an error that led to a run.

Urshela’s advanced numbers are not strong there, but Boone said he would be able to “handle the routine play. Gio is one of the last people I worry about on the defensive side of the ball.”

Urshela is often there when the Yankees shift to the right side, although that’s where his lone error of the season came.

“I have no reservation in throwing him over there,’’ Boone said.
