Katie Ledecky was denied gold by her rival.

Australia’s Ariarne Titmus narrowly edged the American swimming legend to take gold in the women’s 400-meter freestyle at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo on Monday.

Titmus, 15, posted a time of 3:56.69 and the 24-year-old Ledecky, the defending gold medalist clocked in at 3:57.36.  B.J. Li of China was third in 4:01.08
