Tristan Thompson, facing a paternity suit, allegedly told the expectant mother he is retiring from the NBA after this season.

As Page Six first reported Friday, Thompson’s personal trainer Maralee Nichols is suing the Sacramento Kings player for child support, with the baby reportedly due this week. Thompson’s attorneys did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

According to the text messages detailed in the suit, Thompson said that he “won’t be involved at all” and that Nichols would ultimately receive little money because he planned to retire from the NBA.

“Btw if you think having this baby is gonna make you some money. It’s completely wrong,” Thompson allegedly wrote. “You are aware that I’m retiring after this season. So in terms of support it will be whatever is required monthly for someone who’s unemployed. It’s Texas so it will be only a couple hundred dollars.

“So you better off taking this 75k I’m offering cause you won’t get nothing near that with having a kid with a father who’s unemployed. All you will have is a baby with a father who has zero involvement with the child and a few hundred dollars of child support a month.”

It would qualify as a surprise if Thompson followed through with that threat to leave the league. Thompson is 30 years old, which is still prime age for many basketball careers. He is in the final season of a two-year, $19 million deal with Sacramento, where he is averaging 14.1 minutes, 5.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
