Kat from Newcastle
Venue is great but the owner is far from professional. Missed viewings, multiple calls or emails to get a response, late to the bump in for our event, and the real kicker - despite having stated clearly on the quote that the alcohol package consists of sparkling, white & red wine, mid strength and full strength beer, on the evening - NO BEER. He claimed that due to RSA restrictions they aren't allowed to serve beer, but he failed to mention this at any stage. The cafe workers also knew nothing of this because when we went back the next day to collect items we left behind they said they serve beer at functions all the time. I think I now understand why he made us pay up front prior to the event. Very dodgy in my opinion.
Pretty good but wifi does not reach theatre
A good venue but very poorly managed. The owner was late to appointments, hard to get hold of by phone or email and then turned up late to our event. We were left embarrassed in front of our clients when we had been promised a full beverage package in our correspondence but were not served beer or soft drinks. I didn't think it was legal not to serve soft drinks with current RSA laws. When this was brought up post event he then had the audacity to try to charge us more money because we stayed later. There are much better more reliable venues in Newcastle, do not bother even enquiring with this one.
