Great day out. Lots to see and learn about. Stream train ride was fun.
Been here only a few times......but only when I was a child! Even then, it was brilliant coming here just to see the steam trains, steam tractors.......and that absolutely magnificent Dutch Pipe Organ that played gorgeous music! Another great thing to see, is the 3801 as it travels to Sydney! When I used to live in Morisset, I would go to the station just to see the 3801 pass through! Seeing old things from the steam era seems to make you a child again and also puts a massive smile on your face!
A great place to go back in time and appreciate how it used to be. Lots of work goes into this event which was well attended. Peter and Kelly Garnham do a great service to this event !!
Paid $120 for a family ticket on a STEAM TRAIN to Branxton. Said loco broke down and two hours late we were substituted a diesel instead and told no refunds... If I'd wanted to ride a diesel top branxton, I'd have used our Opal cards for $2.50 unlimited all day! Very disappointing! I understand old locos can break, but paying for steam and getting diesel with no refunds is insulting!
Our favourite & one of the best events in Newcastle. A wonderful day out with full-size, miniature, model & stationary steam locomotives. Full-size & miniature steam locomotive rides. Vintage cars, lorries & tractors. A wonderful day out for ANYONE-except pets.
