GP fined $24K for illegally prescribing painkillers FRI 4 APR 2014, 10:06 AM AEDT Email Facebook Twitter WhatsApp A 57-year-old Echuca doctor has been fined for illegally prescribing painkillers. John Quayle pleaded guilty in the Echuca Magistrates Court this week to 25 charges. The Health Department had accused the GP of wrongly prescribing drugs such as morphine and oxycodone on nearly 500 occasions. The offences happened between 2011 and 2013. The magistrate fined Quayle $24,000.
