Main gallery exhibitions are free to all.... Amazing selection of art... Adore the stain glass ceiling area... They provide cushions and seats to lie on to look up at it... Providing an excellent opportunity to meditate and relax... They have put a lot of thought into the children's area... Giving them a fantastic opportunity to get to know art in an interactive way... My only criticism is that they have moved the Australian artists to a different venue, but at least they have kept the water wall on the way in.... Fond memories from childhood, and doesn't disappoint as an adult

A really great gallery. It has an impressive collection, and often has world class special exhibitions, which tend to be extremely popular. The gallery itself is well laid out. It is well served by public transport, and is in the arts precinct of Melbourne and close to many other attractions, including the Botanical Gardens. It had three good options for food to make it a complete experience, or you can dine at the outdoor eating places right next door.

Lreqlly great gallery if there are exhibitions going on. Their set gallery is interesting but I wouldn't say it's anything special. But, if they have installations going on then I would definitely say it's worth checking out. The past exhibitions they had have all been really cool and created. I would definitely recommend if they have something going on. I will say that if there are exhibitions going on, it's definitely going to be crowded in the morning. I would suggested either going earlier to avoid crowds or at least preparing for lots of people.

Fantastic artwork. But the school curriculum and education tours of the gallery are not that great. They need to develop a neutral political perspective instead of pushing for their own individual beliefs. For the multiple hours my class went, we sadly only looked at three pieces of artwork, I actually left the group at one stage to actually see the artwork myself, from that stage onwards did I enjoy myself in seeing the fantastic artwork the gallery has to offer.

This huge building offers numerous and varied collections, and the visiting and special exhibits are always to a very high standard. Bag check is available at the entrance and the logistics of the rooms are well thought out so you wind your way through the exhibits without getting lost. They always have something excellent for kids on too. The gift shop is particularly well stocked with interesting craft and design items, worth having a quick browse on your way out.
