Dumpling Story

The service here could definitely use a big tune up, but my GOD is the food outstanding. You might get blindsided by the staff, who probablybwould rather you weren't there, but when your food comes, everything is forgiven straight away. Pan fried pork buns like no other I've ever had, and the crispy skin chicken is a must every time. Take a few friends to help you laugh at the service, make it a bit, and you won't be upset.

Can't recommend this place enough! Love love love love it. The food is always spot on, great prices and service. I've always been able to get a table but I've heard sometimes it's extremely busy obviously because it's amazing food!!!! Well done. I'll be back plenty more times to come.

Went with two friends to Dumpling Story the other day and we were all a little mixed. On the positive - the BBQ pork buns were amazing and the dumplings were pretty good. (Though having dumpling in the title of your place of work, you'd want them to be more than good). Downfall - the customer service was not decent. And don't get me wrong I get it, I work in retail & hate people half the time too - but a little bit of social skills would be good. Along with that, our chairs & table were really dirty & one of our mains we shared of satay chicken was extremely flavorless & tasted like it was basically thick water. ... Whole thing was pretty pricey too for a not-so-great meal.

Food is not bad and the price is reasonable, but the service is probably the worst in Newcastle, there are three waitresses when we were there, two of them mainly stand at the cashier who really have no idea what’s a standard service. Since we stepped in,both of them just looked at us without any greeting, and I have to asked, do I need to look for a table for ourselves? Then one girl with glasses and ponytail hair came out from the back lead us to a table and she is the only one of the three waitresses who at least have some acknowledge about service. But the other two waitresses at the cashier , they are totally different stories! The girl with long hair gave our dumplings to wrong table!!! And her face looks like she didn’t want to be there, so she didn’t care if she took the food to the wrong table. Then just put the food on your table without saying anything , in a very rude way, and no eye contact. We felt more like a bunch of animals to her. All the customers who came in when we were there been treated the same way as well, very rude. No idea what’s everyone feeling for the service tonight, but I definitely want to say, if I can give the service separate stars, I will give zero. And sorry, I don’t think I will be back again, coz I’m not an animal who is waiting to be fed.

Love the food here, the dumplings are to die for! I will continue to come back for that alone. The only reason I take a star off is for the service, it is consistently bad. I understand having an off day but this is something definitely to work on.
