Finally a day off on the beach coupled with a visit to the Quicksilver shop. They got a brand of (Waterman) shirts that is addictive for great styling and soft easy wear material. After having made my purchase with a delightful sales assistant, the manager who just returned from a break, stopped me at the door because she wanted to have a peek in my beach bag. Standing there, already wearing a Quicksilver shirt and shorts purchased last year, with a Quicksilver shopping bag in my hand containing garments that I have just purchased front of her, I did not think I have merited the definition of a thief but I replied - Certainly you can however, if you do insist on looking in my bag I will return these items and void the purchase. She replied without care - Sorry but I have to look - at which point I opened my bag to expose a towel, book and suntan lotion. Great - she said at which point I turned on my heel back to the cash register and returned/refunded purchased items. She was dump founded and told me that it was Store Policy to inspect my bag. Understand it completely- I replied with a smile- but it’s my Policy not to support a store where they think that I come to steal. Some may think that I over reacted. Given all the circumstances I don’t think I did. I think it is the easiest thing for service providers to tar all of us with the same brush because it’s cheaper for them that way. We now have the technology that can enable us to differentiate between hoods and safe drivers when it comes to insurance. Honest people also do not need to be humiliated by just investing in electronic scanners, Quicksilver.
