Took car in for regular service and was advised that the thermostat housing required replacement.Obtained detailed quote from NRMA Penrith however as had doubts about both pricing (from a previous experience earlier in 2017) and whether work was actually required.A friend of mine had a recent experience where work was quoted and ended up not being needed to be done-he got a second opinion so I went to another local mechanic.
Did not divulge what I had been quoted by the NRMA and they confirmed the leaking housing ( actually showed me) and quoted a much lower figure both for genuine parts and labour. Car fixed today by the other mechanics at a cost representing 25per cent of the NRMA quote and taking only 1 hour to repair versus the 2.5 hours allowed by NRMA.
Moral here-do not trust the NRMA Penrith and get second opinions.
I will not be using NRMA Penrith again not will I recommend them to my friends or family.

I broke down on the M4 on a trip to see my kids.I had a good NRMA guy tow me to there center there.I have a 1996, toyota hiace wide body. What is the usual cost to get a new altetnator fitted on one of those vans?I payed around 750,to get one put in.At least it came with a Warranty.

Very poor service. Log book details not completed and justification provided leaving doubts as to whether service was actually done. They advertised that the pink slip would be completed if rego was due in 3 months however not done. The staff then try to again justify stating a wrong rego renewal date as they had looked up the wrong client. We were very rudely told by staff to go and get a second opinion. We have been taking 3 cars to this service centre however will now move our business elsewhere. Seems like NRMA no longer care about service or loyalty. We just wanted a safe car. Instead we also got told off for bringing the car in for service at 6 months rather than when the kms were completed. Very disappointing.

189$ service over the course of the day became 1300$ service. Request for pink slip made me vulnerable. Car was not ready in time. Instead of 3-4 hours it took 7-8 hours. Receipt with detail of what was done on car was not ready and could only be sent by email. Pink slip was never sent to me. The receipt included work that was never done. Be ware people.

Got my car serviced here and my car came out worst before it went in. They said it needs the drive belt changed cause it was cracked, I said yes change it. Got my car back in afternoon. Next morning driving it. The drive was flying around the engine. Took it back got it replaced again no charge. Next day took it again. Started to smell a bad smell coming through a/c vents and a/c warming up more then what temperature I had it on and so was the radiator temperature rising which has never happened before.
Took it back they said nothing wrong.
I then took it to AL palmer machenic they found part of the drive belt wrapped around the radiator fan. Hence the bad smell of rubber belt burning , a/c temp and car warming up above normal temperature.
Car is now working much better now.
