Very welcoming staff and helpful. Absolutely loved the the get away, very private and peaceful. Will definitely be going back some day. Close to the estates and tourist attractions.

Good value for money cabin in a nice country location. Welcoming staff at check in. Basic breakfast options. Shower has nothing to hold your stuff, had to leave it all on the floor. After a hot day, the ceiling fans weren't enough to cool the rooms to a comfortable level. Still worth staying.

We reached about noon time the Reception lady was very welcoming & explained every thing in detail the place was very clean & quiet though we had gone for 2 nights & paid $50 for an upgrade decided to return back the next day after breakfast for couple of reasons 1st it was too hot to sleep with only ceiling fans due to which the blinds kept shaking so the room # 6 was bright & we couldn't sleep secondly the toilet seat was very dirty with brownish stains & thirdly there was no Vodafone signal in the area so we were out of touch there was WiFi but in the restaurant area & there was no phone in the rooms so in place of an emergency it would have been a serious problem the TV didn't work either

Absolutely loved this place. We were upgraded to one of the 3 bedroom apartments, the décor was lovely, although we were far from home we felt at home from the moment we arrived. The staff was delightfully friendly giving us a tour of the place and amenities nearby. As its name states it very well, it is a 'Retreat', a perfect place away from the 'busy-ness' of the city to unwind, tune and connect with yourself and the surroundings. The gorgeous eucalyptus aroma from the trees is refreshing every morning. You may see a few kangaroos hopping around early morning but you have to pay attention. There is a variety of activities to do like wine tasting around the wineries, enjoying the chocolate factory or even going for a walk following the path in the retreat (the views are wonderful!). The nearest supermarket is in Cessnock. It's about 15-20 minute drive from the retreat and it has lots of cafes and restaurants to enjoy if you don't fancy cooking. Also the 'Hunter Valley Retreat' also has a restaurant where you can go for dinner with a chef who cooks delicious and tasty food. When we were there the weather was great. Although there is no A/C, keeping the doors open lets in plenty of fresh air while keeping the bugs away. The place is by itself quite fresh and if it gets cold, we had a fireplace at the apartment that immediately warm up the place. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the retreat and we will be definitely coming back.

It was absalutley beautiful. The rooms were very clean and the furnishings were lovely. We were rang and had to change our check in time so our room was up graded as a gesture gratitude. I can not say a negative thing about the Hunter Valley Retreat. Thanks to your wonderful staff.
