They get very busy around lunchtime and there can be a bit of a wait. Haven't bought fresh so can't comment on that. Fish and chips was okay. Not the greatest I've ever had and chips are quite dry without any sauce. Would have been nice if they were crisper on the outside and softer on the inside. Staff are not really friendly. I understand it is not easy when you're serving a seemingly never-ending line of customers but a simple smile and "enjoy your meal" would go a long way to improve the service. It's not a place I would frequent but it's okay to pop in once in a while especially if you've spent the morning/afternoon on the beach.

Great place to take visitors. 1.30pm every day the pelicans are fed the day's scraps by the fishmonger. Amazing photo opportunities. We especially love watching these enormous birds coming into land as 1.30pm approaches. Great spectacle.

It was 4 p.m. place was pretty quiet when I walked in, I was served pretty quick. My order number was 246 I order just fish and chips that's it and I had to for 20 minutes, while 249 was called out. I walked up just to ask if 246 was called out a kiwi lady said no not yet then I ask why is my order taking so long the lady was very rude to me and gave me the eye while I was walking away.

Have been going here since 1974 when it was a shack. Original brothers sold. The fresh side of it is still the best on the coast. The cooked we had yesterday was off, smelt of chemicals and batter was thick and not crispy. Had to throw out. We go there or Peters at the Marina once or twice a week. Looks like its back to Peters who have lovely crispy batter and not a bad fresh fish section. Long time until I try Charis again...shame the pelican feeding is great for the kids

Good fish and chips. Amazing fresh seafood all can be eaten outside on picnic tables overlooking the Broadwater at Labrador. An incredible amount of pelicans on the beach right out the front waiting to be fed and friendly enough for you to stand amongst to have a photo taken. The views towards the city up the Broadwater is second to none. You can also lay there on the beach in the sun and have a swim.
